Jeet Kune Do (JKD) and Kali

Jun Fan Gung Fu / Jeet Kune Do

Founded by the late Bruce Lee, Jun Fan Gung Fu / Jeet Kune Do is a dynamic system of martial arts designed specifically for self-defense. Utilizing training methodologies and aspects from many fighting systems such as Wing Chun Gung Fu, Western Boxing, Kickboxing, European Fencing, and many others, the ultimate goal of Jeet Kune Do is to provide students with the ability to discover for themselves which techniques will work best for self-defense. Students of Jeet Kune Do accomplish this by following four primary concepts:

  1. Research one’s own experience
  2. Absorb what is useful
  3. Reject that which is useless
  4. Add what is specifically your own

Beginning with Jun Fan Gung Fu (Bruce Lee’s original system) students learn the fundamental techniques necessary to begin their own personal journey of self- discovery. Once the foundation has been laid, students progress to learn the concepts and training methods of Jeet Kune Do to become well-rounded fighters effective in all four ranges of hand-to-hand combat.

Sifu Bo Jackson is a 3rd generation student of Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Do with a direct lineage back to Bruce Lee through two of his original students (Sifu Dan Inosanto and Sifu Larry Hartsell). Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Do classes are every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm to 8pm with make-up classes some Saturdays from Noon to 1pm. This system is offered exclusively at Tallahassee Integrated Martial Arts.

Kali

Kali is a Filipino art with an emphasis on sticks and knives. We offer this program to ages 13 and up.  We follow the Doce Pares and Inosanto aspects of Kali. Kali is a great way to improve motor function and cognitive function.  The pattern work has been shown to assist individuals with memory retention and eye hand coordination. Kali is a dynamic approach to martial arts and is recommended for anyone regardless of experience.  We highly recommend Kali to all of our students as it is a great way to improve all of your martial arts training, regardless of style. Kali classes are Monday and Wednesday from 6 pm to 7 pm.
